Library Services
The Library's Collection
The Library's 44,180 item collection consists of books, audiobooks, e-books, DVDs, magazines and newspapers. Our Local History/Genealogy department contains newspapers on microfilm, census records, old phone books and local history of Mexia and Limestone County.
Circulation Services
Patrons can renew books online (login in the upper right corner with library card number and phone number) or over the phone (254-562-3231). You can also reserve books and borrow books through Inter-Library Loan.
E-Books
Ebooks appear on the library's catalog page as ~OverDrive items.
The best way to access ebooks is to use the Libby by Overdrive app
Download the Libby app from the App or Play Store to your device
- Login with your library card number and phone number
- Search or browse for books, download & enjoy!
Libby is also a great way to access audio books.
Reference Assistance
Reference assistance is available in person at the Circulation Desk and by phone (254-562-3231) during regular library hours.
Genealogy research questions can be mailed to the library along with a $10 research fee.
Community Spaces in the Library
Gibbs Memorial Library has a Meeting Room available for civic, cultural and educational purposes. Applications and Meeting Room Use Policies can be obtained at the front desk.
Computer Use
The Library has 12 internet access computers available on a first come, first serve basis. Individuals may use these 1-2 hours per day, depending on waiting list.
Wi-fi is free; password is posted throughout the library.
Two children's computers loaded with games are also available.
Printing / Copies / Fax / Typewriter
Both computer printouts and copy machine copies (black & white) are available for 15¢ per page.
Faxes cost $1.00 per page.
Typewriter use is free.
Notary Public
A Notary Public is on staff most days (not Fridays). Call ahead to check availability.
